Every time we eat at the Whispering Canyon Cafe the shenanigans get better and better. This themed restaurant is set in the backwoods of Splash Mountain where dinner is cooked in skillets, drinks are served in mason jars, and the food never stops coming. Including the bottomless milkshakes!

The Whispering Canyon Cafe is located in the lobby of the Wilderness Lodge at Walt Disney World. The theming of the lodge is reminiscent of The Grand Californian Hotel at Disneyland; surrounded by spruce, pine and conifer trees to transport you to the great National Parks located all over the United States of America. This theming continues straight through to the restaurant. It is really over the top. In one corner of the restaurant kids can play with lincoln logs to build their own dream cabin. The wait staff are hootin’ and hollerin’ at each other dressed in plaid. It’s loud and rambunctious and feels like home.
One of the most famous menu items the Whispering Canyon Cafe is known for is their All-You-Care-To-Enjoy-Skillet. Served family style, this huge skillet comes loaded with pull apart yummy pork ribs, perfectly seasoned bbq pork, not nearly enough oak-smoked buttery beef brisket, appetizing herb-roasted chicken, thick western style sausage links, real mashed yellow potatoes, grilled and super tasty corn kernels, crunchy toasted green beans, and a centerpiece of glorious cowboy-style baked beans with chunks of bacon included.
Then come the pony rides during dinner. That’s right! Actual pony rides in the middle of the restaurant during your meal!
And there’s one little secret… A secret surprisingly well kept for how silly, childish and hilarious it is.
► For Kids: The Whispering Canyon Cafe is filled with tons of fun antics and has a loud atmosphere. There is sassy staff, a whole lotta hootin and hollerin, and great grub. Kids will love the playful attitude of everyone here, asking for ketchup, riding ponies, and playing the hokey pokey!
Everytime we visit Walt Disney World we are reminded of how many reasons there are to love coming here and playing with your family. What is your favorite reason?
► Nap-Time Version: Our family’s restaurant review of The Whispering Canyon Cafe where we dined on good ol’ fashioned southern BBQ food that rivals Grandpa’s secret recipes.
There are plenty of places to get BBQ at Walt Disney World and none require park tickets! Trail’s End Buffet at Fort Wilderness Campgrounds and both The Smokehouse and Polite Pig at Downtown Disney.
