Diapers On A Plane: Third Income and Traffic Report for September 2017
Welcome to the 3rd Income and Traffic Report for diapersonaplane.com
Without sounding too repetitious, the purpose of our blog is meant to document the journeys and travels we are taking with our kids.
Why Income Reports?

I am way behind in posting for the month of September. This month has been quite busy, and I am happy to say that it is because we’ve been traveling! In September, we took our annual family trip to Walt Disney World and in October we visited both Boston and Long Beach. So along with my full time job, it has set me a little behind on keeping up with certain aspects of the blog. Travel is kind of a great reason to be behind on things right? I definitely don’t want to skip a month of income reports as I think it is a valuable resource to look back on to see how we are doing with the blog. We are hoping that one day it might provide an extra little income to source our travel, but for now it is a great way to journal and document our family memories. We would love to hear any feedback or advice from anybody reading this.
But let’s cut to the chase: Here are the stats for September.
$102 – Tailwind (annual subscription)
Monthly loss of –$100.15

I had some lofty goals for our pages views this month that we did not even come close to making. We actually had less pages views, but more visitors. I am hoping that means we are having repeat visitors that have already read some of our content. We focused on some Halloween posts during September that I am hoping will help in October.
The biggest takeaway from our goals this month is that we shouldn’t stress so much about our goals. If we are having fun working on the blog and enjoying journaling our life, we are doing what matters. I believe that being ourselves, and sharing our passion for traveling and blogging will eventually bring people to our blog.
- Don’t get caught up on the numbers. I found myself frequently checking our pages stats and views during a lot of the month. It was not helpful at all. When I stopped checking stats I found that I was able to focus more on important things.
- Set reasonable goals. Building up an audience takes time, I have since made goals that I think are more achievable. There are methods for getting more page views through facebook groups etc., and while we still want to do that, we want to focus as much time as we can on our family and posting quality experiences instead.
- Invest in a good camera. We recently purchased a point and shoot camera from Costco that we thought we be great for our vacations and be easy to use. Not the case! It just does not take the quality pictures we hoped, and just ended up making us irritated and sad when reviewing the photos. We are now in the market for a new DSLR camera.
Goals for next Month:
Hoping to achieve more of these in October.
Social Goals for October:

Youtube 20 followers

Catherine has continued to be rockstar in writing and publishing blogs. I have gotten a little behind on creating images and new pins for the posts. Pinterest has been one of the highest drivers of traffic on our blog, and I can’t afford to neglect it. This month I want to put the time in to make sure we have pins for all our posts.
Thanks for checking out our report for this month. I look forward to seeing how things go for the month of October and reporting that info in just a few days!
