After chasing down the Northern Lights unsuccessfully in Iceland four years ago, this unfulfilled dream of ours has never left the forefront of our thoughts. When we read that Tromsø was the one place on Earth where the Northern Lights appeared more than anywhere else in the world, Norway soared to the top of our adventure list. We immediately set our sights on celebrating Christmas here!
► Ranking: #cleandiaper
First we failed at seeing the Northern Lights in Iceland. Then we failed at getting to Tromsø at Christmas. But, we still loved visiting Norway during the polar night, in sub freezing temperatures, and finally did cross off seeing the Northern Lights.

This is easily the trip we did the least and accomplished the most. While that may sound like a contradictory statement, we went during the middle of winter during the holidays when nothing was open, yet we were still able to partake in specific experiences only available during this time of the year, and they were remarkable.
